The cruel mistress, Depression, has the young man in her grasp, her claws digging into his psyche as he sits alone with his meager meal. The room is bathed in the harsh, unyielding light of a bare bulb, casting stark shadows that dance macabrely on the peeling walls. His fork scrapes against the plate, a harsh, teeth-grating sound that echoes the scraping of his soul against the jagged edges of his despair. He's a puppet, and Depression, the puppeteer, manipulates him, forcing him to partake in this grim charade of a meal, his mouth a puppet's mouth, moving mechanically, tasting nothing, feeling only the cold, empty void within.
